Right then peeps, I have not long spoken to the PR manager who is organising the event for us and Tonbridge Audi and they can get a rolling road there for the day. If anyone saw Top Gear at the weekend you would have already seen the actual rig and the guy who will be testing your car! That's right that very rig and technician are potentially coming to the open day. The downsides, and there are 2 of them, 1 it will cost you £20 to put you car on, and 2, unfortunately only non quattro models (Non 4 wheel drive) can have their cars tested . This rules my car out so I won't be able to take part but are there enough 2 wheel drive owners out there who would want to register for this? If we can get enough folk registered for the rolling road, it will be there on the day but I need to know soonish so it can be booked!

The newer the better, the older the better, it just looks great seeing Audi's spanning the last 30 odd years all lined up next to each other Razz

Laughing Laughing Laughing

In fairness they found everything that i already knew about. The fact that I had been lazy with my topping up didn't make it look any better Shocked

Can be a bit scarey but it's free and there's no obligation to get the work done with them. It can in fact be handy, perhaps highlighting a problem that you weren't aware of and could potentially be bad news? James isn't wrong in that mine was probably the worst car there on the day and there was nothing major wrong with it, not for a 12 year old with 120k on the clock at the time at any rate!

Laughing Laughing Laughing

The technician will check your car first to make sure it is safe enough to go on the rollers. There will likely be a disclaimer form to fill in too, there normally is with these things Rolling Eyes

The AOC have been talking to a performance company down here in the south that has a reputable 4 wheel rolling rig. It has been offered to be used on the day at Tonbridge but it is too expensive to arrange for it to be set up.
If we are only able to have 50 cars at the event itself, we would need to get everyone on the rollers and it would still cost £40 each!

However, I am going to try and arrange a date in which we can turn up to their workshop and spend the day running our cars. Their current pricelist is quoted below but I'm sure that I can arrange a deal with them for the day Very Happy

Power run - £50
Power run with Mapping - £95

And your trust issues are not unfounded. Many of the companies that do rolling roads often fudge the figures to get better results, or perhaps haven't had the rig calibrated for a while, it's costs mega money to own and run and keep up to date one of these and the mobile units are no different. Dyno Dynamics new 4 wheel mobile rig costs a couple of Million £'s for the full set-up!!!!!!!! But it will be the best mobile unit out there once it is released.

SPC test and map race tuned cars that are used in various competitions and series, some of these series have strict guidelines to power ratings and so SPC have to ensure their's is properly calibrated!

I was very sceptical about anyone I spoke to when i was looking around for a 4 wheel rig to put mine on. After speaking to SPC, they made me feel more comfortable than all the others I had contacted which is why I chose them. Now that I have had my mods done, panel filter, drilled airbox and cat deleted stainless exhaust, it is well overdue for a mapping run to bring it all in properly. I'm only expecting 5bhp gain from my original readings, if that, but it's the driveability of the car that makes it worthwhile Twisted Evil

Towards the bottom of this page is the print outs I got from them. http://www.audifans.net/ftopict-21357.html

At this stage I couldn't recommend them for tuning as to me they are unknown. A simple power run did go well so based on that I'm willing to look into it further Wink

i do know the MC2 engine is difficult to get power from as it get a problem with fuel pressure, i think its capable of around 220-230bhp set up by the right person.....

If it's a fuel pressure issue then perhaps a more powerful fuel pump is all that is needed?

Some folk who have gone the NO2 route have met with the same problem re fuel pressure and upgrading the pump to a more powerful one has sorted their issues out.

Rolling road: Yeah, why not. What's the cost for this though? £20? or will it be more if there are fewer of us to take this up?

Health Check: Yes please

I'd also like to spend some time with a mechanic if possible to discuss an issue with my heated mirrors.... they don't work essentially, and I can't figure out why.... and Maidstone Audi don't have a clue either, so yeah.

I'll also be bringing along my camera; if the guys at Tonbridge Audi don't have any issues with this, I'd like to take some pictures of them at work, undersides of cars, usual type stuff etc.... I will do my best not to get in the way etc....

Chers.

It's looking a little lite on the RR front at the moment, mainly as it's only a 2 wheel rig. But, this is yet to be officially rolled out to the other forums (Hopefully later this week), and so we will have to see.

An idea I heard was charge £30 leading up to the event, on the day we would see how many turn up and then we could possibly drop the price if more interest was found on the day? It's all for discussion ideas are welcome.

There's also talk of the local Police coming down in a couple of their Audi cars to show off their gadgets and stuff. I wanted to see some of their stealth cars but apparently they are very secretive with those ones Laughing

I did wonder? most of the powerful Audi's tended to be quattro but not all of them. Wasn't sure if yours was the 100 quattro, which was turbo as standard.

Ok then peeps, have just read an email from the lady who is help manage this event.

Quote:
Invites will be sent out to those who register interest. The invite will simply promote the event taking place at Tonbridge Audi - the opportunity of free vehicle heath checks and diagnostic checks. It also gives you the opportunity to chat with our knowledgeable technicians and see the latest Audi models on display whilst enjoying refreshments. On the invite will be something that allows people to commit to the £20 for the rolling road IF we can get it still for the event (awaiting call back re: still available).

The info that will be ultimately required from everyone registering is;

1) Name, Car Model and Reg
2) Number of guests in their party
3) Commitment to rolling road at £20 (if we manage to get it) - We can then allocate time
4) Whether they wish to book for Vehicle Health Check - We can then allocate time

Quote:
5) Concourse (I've added this one but the request has gone to them and as it was at last years event, I see no reason why not to do it again?)

If your able to supply all the points above, along with your contact details when registering, it will speed things up a bit but it will also arrive on your invite.

Shame I didn't know sooner, there has already been a number of people registering interest in this so there may be an element of back tracking to do! Oh well such is the pitfalls of organising events like this Laughing
