Sorry for not posting for a while, but......

Got the coil reader onto the ignition switch!

Put the dashboard back in and started to build it all up!!

I'm at the electrics at the moment, and I'm starting to get there. Using the dash loom from the 95 tdi. Adding in wires from the cab loom (extra wires from the aux guages, front fog light switch wires and.......) Also adding in the wiring from a loom I got with the air-con assembly. Confused

I took the warning light card out of the instrument panel (95tdi) and cut out the airbag warning indicator from the card then as the tdi card didn't have a top open warning on it cut one from the cab warning card! I welded it into place with an old soldering iron and it looks ok and will work (if I can find which wire comes from the roof ECU and which pin on the instrument panel plug is for the airbag warning indicator Shocked )

I'm still trying to get the cruise control and trip comp working so have managed to get the relevent stalks of ebay (cruise from an A8 3.7 D2 94-02 though had to modify it to fit and the trip comp stalk didn't fit!) Trip comp control stalk from an A6 (I think) and modified to fit! Think I've managed to get the wiring diags from other posts so here's hoping. I wonder if anyone has got a code plug from the trip computer from an A6 c4 tdi? Ideally from a 1.9tdi or perhaps a 2.5tdi. If anyone does could you take a photo and post it up here and I'll try to modify the petrol one I've got (just to see if it'll work)

I need to start thinking about speakers for the radio, so if anyone can recommend some and what size for the rear....... fronts are ok for now...

I also took an odometer to bits and set at to zero, will put it in the car and see whether it works or not.

If anyone has got hints or tips about the rebuild then please post because I'd like build the car without having to take it to bits a million times.

Chees for now
Jim

when you say pulses do you mean lifts up and down at tickover? ive tried thru vagcom to set the tickover on mine, a 1994 80 1.9tdi avant, but cant find anywhere to adjust it, have been told it may be the crank sensor or knock sensor, im living with it till i take it off the road for a bit of a refurb/tidy up

It lifts up and down at tickover and when running, I think there are issues with the electronics as the glow plug light flashes after the engine has been running for a couple of mins! I'm using the 95 ecu and 93 speed sensor,, Hmm....

I said the car would be on the road for june! Ehh I thought it would be on the road for june Rolling Eyes

Not much has changed since my last post to be honest.

Maybe get it going for next june

My excuse is that this year in south lanarkshire there has been no need for a cabriolet!!

will get back to it in the near future....

Ok!!
Time to bring everyone up to speed about this!!
A lot has happened in the past year or two, though not much dieselizing!
Rolling Eyes

So nothing has been done at all to the red diesel one because of it's hunting engine ( have found out it could possibly be a dirty pump so will take it to bits and see if there is muck and crud about it), if I can't sort it cheaply then the wiring loom is coming out and the 93 wiring and pump is going in( because I know it did work ok).

A wee admission now!!
The red one has been joined by a metallic greeny blue 1995 cabriolet with a v6! It's only done 42000 miles and the grey leather is immaculate! The engine wasn't going when I got it! It is now! Same with the electric hood! It's working fine now, though needed a few colourful adjectives to help it!

Ehh... Another wee admission.....
Last weekend......
1998 aluminium 1.8 cab with a blown head gasket!! Still mot'd till June!!
Wonder if it'll be on the road for this June or next or....
Also in the meantime picked up a couple of 80 tdi's cheap! Took the engines/ boxes and good spares out of them then took what was left to the metal merchant!! I should have enough spares to keep a cab on the road(if I ever get one on the road!!)
More soon (promise)

Jim

Hello guys, this is a really impressive project. So I think you might help me with some answers. I want to swap a ECU/engine harness from a 1.9 TDI '95 because my 1.9 TDI '93 has that st**id 55 pin ecu. I can't identify 2 connectors.
1. Black connector 6 pins only 5 used near the injection pump connector(see photos)
2. Red connector 5 pins only 2 used near blue (cruise control) connector under dash.
