This on our local facebook page

" just to make people aware that NSL enforcement van which apparently acts for the government to check tax discs are around Newtown this morning"

Strange that as on the DVLA site it says the following

From:Driver and Vehicle Licensing AgencyFirst published:24 February 2014Last updated:13 October 2014 , see all updates Part of:Transport ...

Updates and advice on abolition of the vehicle tax disc.

Abolition of the tax disc

From 1 October 2014, the paper tax disc will no longer need to be displayed on a vehicle. If you have a tax disc with any months left to run after this date, then it can be removed from the vehicle and destroyed. This includes customers with a Northern Ireland address, however they will still need to display their MoT disc.

You can apply online to tax or SORN your vehicle using your 16 digit reference number from your vehicle tax renewal reminder (V11 or V85/1) or 11 digit reference number from your log book (V5C)

They have been removing vehicles and saying it will cost £260!!! to get it back.

My tax is due to expire end Jan 15 & will keep my disc displayed until then.

They weren't checking for tax discs - they were checking that vehicles were taxed which is completely different.

But the company's database appears not to have been correct as they took one Car & tried to take another that were taxed under the new system. Also they were targeting Housing estates No paper work was left with registered keepers?
